ALASKA WEB COMPANY
Original research project / baseline protocol

Measure the work.
Publish the method.

An honest performance study starts with a reproducible test. This page documents what we will measure; no site results or statewide rankings have been collected for publication.

What this is

A public research blueprint.

A framework for comparing how real Alaska business websites behave on mobile, especially when their users need directions, contact details, booking information or access to public services.

We are not publishing scores from a single pass and calling them statewide truth. Before launching a benchmark, we'll document the sampling method, measurement dates, privacy considerations and reproducibility limits.

Five safeguards for trustworthy data.

01 / SELECTION

Define the sample.

Publish which sites and page types are included, and why. Avoid selecting only slow competitors or only fast affiliated sites.

02 / TEST CONDITIONS

Hold conditions constant.

Record URLs, tool version, device profile, network simulation, test date and cold/warm state. Run repeatable lab tests, not a single unexplained score.

03 / FIELD VS LAB

Keep data types separate.

Field data from Chrome UX Report is available only for eligible URLs/origins. Label absent field data as unavailable—not zero.

04 / METRICS

Report the relevant measures.

Include LCP, INP and CLS with proper 75th-percentile field context where available; separately report lab performance, page weight, requests and keyboard usability.

05 / REPRODUCIBILITY

Show raw observations.

Provide audit date, source, repeat count and correction policy so future reviewers can reproduce or challenge findings.

Measurement reference

What does “good” mean?

Google's Core Web Vitals guidance identifies good field thresholds at the 75th percentile. These are standards for interpreting metrics, not results for any website named here.

≤ 2.5sLCP · Loading
≤ 200msINP · Responsiveness
≤ 0.1CLS · Visual stability

Why we publish the framework first

Alaska businesses deserve useful comparisons, not marketing numbers dressed up as research. A future public dataset would need sampling across real sectors, clear exclusions, repeat measurements and a meaningful explanation of what website performance can and cannot say about an agency.

Affiliation matters. Alaska Web Company is operated by FOUR Media Group LLC, whose FOURAK brand is a founding directory listing. Martin Media is a professional partner. Any future benchmark must identify those relationships and avoid awarding the operator a manufactured lead.
